Support Dogs of Florida was started because there was a need for a reputable agency in Florida providing its residents with a professional service to aid the person whose pet helps to improve their life.
Our Approach and Promise To You
Support Dogs of Florida treat our customers the way we would like to be treated. And we provide understanding for those who are in need of a true emotional support animal for their life journey and well being.
We are animal lovers ourselves, and understand and respect the human/animal connection.
Support Dogs of Florida is registered with the Florida Department of State, Division of Corporations. We are also an active member of the Better Business Bureau. Our therapist has been licensed in the state of Florida and has practiced here successfully for 30 years.
Because Support Dogs of Florida deals with the emotional well being of others, we understand the need for sensitivity, acceptance, and a nonjudgmental attitude.
All information about you, including your evaluation and letter(s) is CONFIDENTIAL and will not be released without your written consent.
Since our emotional support animal (ESA) services deal with your personal and sensitive information, everything is confidential and cannot be released without your permission. The few exceptions to the confidentiality rule are:
- You are a danger to yourself and/or others.
- You have abused a child, an elderly person, or a handicapped individual.
- In the event Support Dogs of Florida is ordered by a judge in court to provide information about a case, we would have to comply with that order.
So to sum up what we're about, let's just say that we know the importance of having your support animal with you, and can help to provide the means to make that possible.
Recent investigations have shown that some nationwide companies were utilizing therapists that were not licensed in the customer's state of residence. We have been advised that this is against ADA regulations which requires the therapist to be licensed in the state where the customer lives. Consequently, a customer using an ESA letter that is not compliant with ADA regulations runs the risk of being turned away by businesses, housing, and airlines.
In addition, some companies claim their therapists have "national licenses". There is absolutely no such thing as a "national license" for mental health providers. Some providers may have a license in more than one state, but the likelihood of having it in many states is extremely small, and "nationally" is impossible.
Support Dogs of Florida is licensed for those persons who have at least one residence in Florida.
