A message from one of our Florida registered therapists:
“I’ve been a therapist helping people reach their goals for a happier and more satisfying life for 35 years. I love what I do. I’m down to earth, easy to understand, and talk to, and have practical ways that people can use to overcome their problem areas. Emotional support animals are one of the most useful of those ways.
At Support Dogs of Florida I can combine my love of animals with my love of helping people. What a great combination! My job as a therapist is to help people find more happiness and contentment that works for them as individuals, couples, and families. Since everyone is different, it’s been my life’s work to assist people in finding what is best for them. Many, many individuals and couples over the years have found that their pets provide experiences and feelings that round their lives out, add qualities that are missing, and for some provide the only support and trust that they’ve ever known. How many times have we heard someone say, “Well, I don’t trust many people I know, but I sure do trust my dog (cast, pet, etc.) who’s always there for me, no matter what.” It’s not unusual for people who’ve been very hurt by loss, rejection, or emotional, or physical pain to turn to their pet for comfort. Maybe they live alone or maybe they just feel alone. Perhaps someone close to them died, they’ve lost their job, or they’ve going through a divorce. Maybe they’ve had a lifetime of depression, anxiety, or worry. For those of us who have been fortunate enough to share our lives with a pet, we know the special qualities pets can provide in helping us navigate through the tough times, and as well as sharing in the celebrations of life’s successes. Their antics can make us laugh, and their warm bodies sitting next to us can provide company when no one else is there.
It would be my privilege to assist you in making a way to assure that your friend can live with you, travel with you, and be there when you need them.”
